I believe that as one serves one grows more and more in their walk with Christ. The problem is this, many are often willing to serve, but have no passion to serve in the area in which they currently serve. This often leads to people helping out in an area they could care less about and it reflects in all they do. Please understand me. I believe every person should serve in some capacity. However, if you are currently serving and you don't find joy, excitement and fulfillment in doing so - why are are you still doing it? Instead why not find a passion you have and do something with it. Too often I hear someone gripe about why a ministry doesn't have something or how they don't do something as well as it should be done. If that's you, that probably mean one of 3 things:
1- You either truly care about the ministry and have something you could add to help this ministry.
Meaning - You serving could help make this ministry better.
2- You are just a critical person, but not willing to do anything about it.
Meaning - You would rather gripe than do something to make it better.
3 - You feel that something like serving is for people who are inferior to you.
Meaning - You are too good to serve.
i desire that everyone, not matter where it may be, will make serving a weekly part of what they desire to do. Maybe it's at a church, a food pantry, a shelter, a nursing home or a long list of other places that could use your help. I don't care where, when or how. Simply find a place you are passionate about and serve joyfully.
Jesus said it this way, "You know that those who are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many." Mark 10:42-45
These were the word Jesus spoke to His disciples when calling them to live life to the fullest. As we seek to be more like Him and follow the example He calls every one of us to live a life of services. I truly believe that when you serve, volunteers and give of yourself and your time, you grow in your walk with Him.
What are you passionate about?
Are you using this passion in a possitive way to serve others?
Has this passion become contagious to the point you are actually doing something about it?
Find a place where you are truly passionate and serve in whatever capacity that may be.

the one question that pastors we wrestle with is - "what can we do to help the church grow"? now i don't want to get into the whole, well its not you, it's only God. true. however i do believe that God blesses the church but also equips leaders and volunteers to reach out to more people. so often question things to help us grow more. things like, do i have the right people in place, does something need to change, how can we do this better and the list goes on with another 20+ questions. often it because easy to point out what others may be doing wrong instead of remembering that this is a team effort. this is my church. this is our church.
here is something that steven furtick said regarding church growth at Elevation church-
We enable experiences and interactions that leave our people saying:
I love my church
So they’ll tell their friends:
You’ve got to come check out my church
The friends come.
We worship Jesus and preach the Gospel with excellence.
The friends leave saying:
I really like this church
Inspiring them to come back again and again until they say:
I love my church
And tell their friends:
You’ve got to come check out my church…
loving God & loving others may lead others to loving and being a part of the church.
maybe it is that simple and we've lost sight of just that.
this is my church. i love my church.
i will do all i can to have others come and be a part of something i love.
